How to Install American Outdoor Grill Replacement Parts: Step-by-Step Guide for 24NB, 30NB & 36NB Built-In Models

Locate your American Outdoor Grill model number

Your AOG grill has a model number stamped on a data plate near the control panel, inside the cabinet door, or on the rear panel of the unit. Common built-in models include 24NB, 24NG, 24NP, 24PC (24-inch), 30NB, 30PC, 30NBL, 30NBT (30-inch), and 36NB, 36PC (36-inch). Write down the full model number before you order — it determines the burner length, heat plate size, and igniter type that will fit your grill.

Gather the tools and replacement parts

Confirm you have the correct OEM-compatible kit before starting: a 304 stainless steel burner tube (such as the 12461, 14.5" x 6.25"), a matching heat plate shield (92461 or 90351, or the stainless S9246A / S9035A version), and a Flame Thrower igniter electrode. You will also need a Phillips-head screwdriver, a nut driver or socket set, and a soft brush for clearing debris from the firebox. Disconnect the propane tank or natural gas line and work in a well-ventilated area.

Remove the old burner tubes and heat plates

Open the lid and lift out the cooking grates. Remove the heat plate shields and set them aside. Locate the mounting bracket or screw securing each burner tube at the rear of the firebox, then slide the burner forward to release it from the gas valve orifice before lifting it out. Repeat for every burner. Brush out any rust flakes or debris from the firebox floor and valve openings before installing new parts.

Install the new 304 stainless steel burners

Align the venturi opening of the new 304 stainless steel burner tube squarely over the gas valve orifice, then slide the burner rearward until it seats fully against the bracket. Secure the rear mounting point with the original screw or clip. Check that the burner sits level and does not rock — proper alignment on your 24NB, 30NB, or 36NB grill prevents flashback and keeps the flame pattern even across the cooking surface.

Replace the heat plates and igniter

Set the new heat plate shields in place over each burner, fitting the tabs into the firebox slots so the plate fully shields the burner from drippings. If your model uses a separate Flame Thrower igniter electrode, mount the replacement in its bracket with the tip positioned about 3/16 to 1/4 inch from the nearest burner tube, then reconnect the ignition wire. Replace the cooking grates.

Leak-test and fire up

Reconnect the gas supply and brush a soap-and-water solution over each connection while the gas is on — bubbles mean a leak, so tighten and retest. Once the connections are sealed, light each burner and confirm a steady blue flame. A yellow or uneven flame usually points to a misaligned burner or blocked venturi. Run the grill on high for 10 minutes to burn off manufacturing oils from the new 304 stainless steel parts.

Why 304 stainless steel matters for AOG grills

American Outdoor Grill builds its units from 304 stainless steel from the start, and replacement parts should match that standard. Lower-grade steel warps, pits, and rusts after a season of high-heat cooking, while 304 food-grade stainless steel resists corrosion and holds up to years of outdoor use without losing performance.
